Turning a neighbourhood favourite into a fully-booked destination
Ember & Oak relied on phone bookings and an outdated website. We created an atmospheric, editorial site with integrated reservations — online bookings became the restaurant’s busiest channel within a month.

01 — The challenge
What stood in the way
Ember & Oak had glowing reviews but a website that didn’t reflect the experience. Menus were PDFs, reservations were phone-only and staff spent hours a week answering the same questions. Weeknight tables regularly went unfilled.
Project goals
- 01Make online reservations the default booking channel
- 02Let staff update menus in minutes without a developer
- 03Rank in the local “best restaurants” map pack
- 04Capture private-dining enquiries
02 — Discovery
What the research told us
of bookings came through the phone
per week staff spent answering calls
online private-dining enquiries per month
03 — Approach
Strategy, then pixels
We spent an evening in service with the team to understand how guests discover and book. The design brief wrote itself: warm, editorial and appetite-led, with booking never more than one tap away.
We built the site in Webflow with an easy-to-edit menu CMS, integrated OpenTable reservations, added a private-dining enquiry flow and set up Google Business Profile, schema markup and local citations.

The impact
“Online reservations went from a phone-only headache to our busiest channel. The website looks like a magazine and our tables are full on weeknights now.”
